Dear Robert Buckland,
Dear Justin Tomlinson,
I am concerned that you are unwilling to provide assurances that trade deals won't hinder our ability to deal with plastic pollution. Furthermore I am concerned that democratic process is being subverted, given the recent vote against an amendment to the Trade Bill which would have provided Parliament with scrutiny on future trade deals. This is disempowering the government:
So please can you answer the following?
- Will trade deals further plastic pollution in any way?
- Will trade deals make it more difficult to introduce effective legislation to reduce plastic pollution?
I look forward to clarification from you.
Yours sincerely,
