Zero waste
About
We sent GAIA's Zero Waste to Zero Emissions report to Swindon Borough Council's Councillor for Climate Change, Keith Williams, and The Shadow Spokesperson for Sustainability, Jane Milner-Barry. We are asking for positive action to deal with plastic pollution and develop zero waste systems, and support for our organisation.

Hi Keith, hi Jane,
For your attention, a report from GAIA, Zero Waste to Zero Emissions. It shows the importance of developing zero waste strategies to deal with global warming and mass extinction.
Swindon Borough Council (SBC) are currently a million miles away from developing zero waste strategies. With regards to plastic, SBC have refused to acknowledge and publicly communicate the dirty truth about waste incineration, failed to mention plastic pollution in their Be The Change campaign or Carbon Reduction Strategy, and refused to acknowledge or collaborate with Plastic Free Swindon. Instead there continues to be a baseless assertion made by Keith which he refuses to clarify. The omission of plastic pollution from key strategies and communications is not in the public's best interests. It is politically expedient for a political party with connections to the oil and gas industry, and the system of oppression which they serve.
We hope for some support, honesty, and positive action on plastic pollution from SBC in 2023.
Sincerely,
Ben Bell
Plastic Free Swindon co-ordinator
