Pigeons: appeal for help

13th August 2021

Plastic Free Swindon launched in 2018 with a litter pick with RSPCA North Wilts'. It wasn't long after that I met Maggie. She is known to many around the town centre as the lovely person who looks after the local pigeons. The following is her message asking for assistance.

"For the last few years I've been helping out the local pigeons by freeing them from the, mostly plastic, litter that tangles their feet. This entanglement leads to mutilation, amputation and ultimately starvation. We humans brought the pigeons into the cities and towns, the least we can do now is try to keep them from suffering the consequences of our carelessness. Sadly time and ill health have caught up with me and I can no longer catch the pigeons. If you would like to learn the art please contact me. It costs very little money, the time commitment is completely flexible and the rewards are huge. To catch, untangle and free a pigeon is such a joy, give it a try why don't you?!?"

If you fit the bill and would like to help Maggie, please contact us in the first instance with your full name, a contact phone number and email address. Please share with anyone you think might be interested in helping. Love and light!
