Keep Swindon Tidy

Problems

Keep Swindon Tidy is on a mission to keep Swindon litter-free. Litter pollutes the local environment causing stress, disease. It runs down neighbourhoods, encourages anti-social behaviour (see Broken Window theory) and harms mental health. It costs us a huge amount each year. For example, Central Swindon North Parish Council spend £296,000 per year cleaning up litter.

Solutions

Keep Swindon Tidy hosts regular litter picks. We then go the extra mile to deal with the issues that are causing litter and waste by working with local communities, councils (borough and parishes), MPs, organisations, media and businesses. Littered items are reused and recycled where we have capacity to do so. We blog about our work to raise awareness of issues. Thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers, the Swindon Wombles, we make an incredible impact!

Take the Challenge!

There are around 230,000 Swindon residents. With that in mind, we set a target for Swindon to collect 200,000 bags of rubbish in 2025. The idea being that, if each of us collected 1 bag of rubbish this year, we would hit the target. It’s easy to get involved. Simply send us the amount of bags you collect on a litter pick and we will add it to the tally. This can be done via our Facebook page. group or by sending an email to ***JavaScript protected email address***.
